Chill Hours

Most apple trees need at least 1,000 hours of temperatures lower than 45 degrees (chill hours) Fahrenheit to properly bear fruit. In Ohio, that minimum is easily met. There are a few apple trees that require less and these trees can grow and bear fruit in warmer climates.
